The Norwood Youth Cheer is proud to offer a variety of activities for the youth of tomorrow. Starring lead NYFC cheerleaders guarantees to stand out among all the stars: excelling in any or all of the categories for any age. Cheerleaders are chosen by the coaches in attendance to focus upon key issues important to the members of the squad they are targeting. The designated area is open to all youth members of the squad to learn about their importance to the team. It is an exciting opportunity for any youth member to showcase their talents in front of an elaborate cheering audience. Teams are chosen in the following categories:
-Ballroom dancing for Squad and School
-Indoor track and field
-Leader roles & social skills (assistants)
-Team spirit (teamwork & leadership)
-Dancewear (pom & flowers)
-Aerobics & fun exercises
While the programs are designed for the entire squad to learn about basic cheeleading skills and the importance of team work, we admit that when the season begins several cheer squads will be competing in regional and local competition. The interest for this program is high and we look forward to seeing who makes it on to the Allstar squad!
Stunting safety is the number one priority of the squad coaches. If you or your child are interested in becoming a member of the State Cheerleading Inspectors, submit a cover sheet and application on the same day that your application is accepted. The Inspectors do not offer support for personal squad costumes, but may offer advice on uniform/costume selection – even if they could not be present at the competition
Preventing accidents should be the number one priority of any coach. If there are accidents during performances it can be helpful to initiate contact with parents and/or community contacts. To prevent accidents it is imperative that all members of the squad give a safety speech prior to the start of the show.
We entertain absolutely no responsibility for our safety and their safety while participating in any fashion of cheerleading. Every member of the squad must be aware of their personal safety and the safety of the school or community and out of respect for those we are part of, we will do our best to avoid injury to others.
